What's Cool About BosuDong Book Street?
Quaint bookstore
Located beside of Gukje Market, Bosu-dong Book Street is totally different from the bustling market. The alley is cool, quaint and full with smell of old books. Various kind of second hand books can be found at here, from dictionary to comics books, even some classic music vinyls. Just most of it are in Korean but there are still some English book as well. The books are literally filled in the shops, staking from the floor up to the ceiling. Korean famous entertainment show ‘Running Man’, was also filmed at here before. Do taking note that photo shooting is not allowed in some of the book store.
Rich History
Other than the unique atmosphere around, what makes the street so charming is the history behind. During the Korean War, Busan became the provisional capital. Refugees set up stalls at there, selling their books for a living. Years after war, this street became an opportunity to students and professors for selling their books and buying at cheaper price. The coolest part is the price could be bargained based on the condition of book.
After round of shopping, the book café in the alley would be great corner for you to get started with the book you liked.
